‘The Likes of Us’ ‘I was really looking forward to hearing the catchy tunes that this show is known for and I am really pleased that GAMA chose to bring it to Fife. When the rights-holders insist that the piece can only be staged with a set short of narration with no option to add any additional dialogue, the company's hands were very much tied behind their backs! It is so much more to create believable characters when they can only sing. That said, the company overcame the difficulties and produced a very entertaining production. The main principals, Billy Naismith as Dr. Barnardo, Kenna Orkney as Syrie, Lorraine King as Rose, Gillian Easton as Jenny and Craig Spence as Johnny all portrayed their characters well. The chorus worked well throughout, with the ensemble numbers providing many of the highpoints. I did love the scene in Downing Street where the augmented male chorus excelled. The children, as you might expect, sang and performed all their numbers with gusto. Congratulations to the backstage team on creating such an excellent stage setting which was used to advantage throughout.'
